CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVE

Build an executive report for tracking total spend, invoice count, spend associated with discounts and savings achieved, with navigation between an overall view and a supplier-specific analysis.

The objective is to transform invoice, invoice line, vendor, item, location, currency and date data into useful indicators for procurement and accounts payable.

MODEL AND DIAGNOSIS

  • The PBIX organizes the analysis into a landing page and two report pages: Spend Trend and Distribution, and Discounts by Supplier.
  • The model contains invoice, invoice line item, vendor, item, location, currency, exchange rate, date and calendar tables.
  • Measures and visuals cover total spend, invoice count, spend with discounts, savings, average discount, days available to apply discounts, average payment days and month-over-month change.
  • The report includes period, category, tier and supplier filters, together with comparisons by country, city, category, subcategory and vendor tier.

DELIVERY AND LEARNING

The delivery includes relational modeling, DAX measures and executive visualization to support spend analysis and identify savings opportunities.

The development is published on GitHub together with the PBIX file and documentation of the model, measures and design decisions.
